I’ve never been much into wedding fantasizing. Despite a popular perception that all girls dream about their nuptials, I can honestly say that I’ve never entertained thoughts about my “dream wedding”—where it would be held, would we serve chicken or fish, hire a band or a DJ, or even what I would be wearing. That is, until I saw Dolce & Gabbana’s hope chest-inspired Spring collection. If I were getting married this spring, which I’m not (sorry, Mom), I would invest in at least one, maybe more, of the lacy white confections. It was the styling that sold me: the visible undergarments, the big gold hoops, and the wooden platform heels clickity-clacking down the catwalk gave me an entirely new sense of what it could be like to walk down the aisle. And then there was the makeup. The just-bitten lips and the soft pink flush on clean tan skin was a far cry From the caked-on faces that usually come to mind when the descriptive words “bridal makeup” are uttered. Face painter Pat McGrath was responsible for the look, which we reported on during Milan in full detail, but one thing has changed since Isabeli and co. took to the runway back in September. The Dolce & Gabbana Lip Jewels that McGrath designed for the occasion are now available at Saks. A quartet of classic cream pigments—Dahlia, a blue-tinged red; Devil, a ruddy brick red; Ultra, a classic crimson; and Nude, a peachy neutral—the pout enhancers can be applied alone or mixed together with two miniature lip brushes. A little smudge on the cheeks also does wonders for painting the picture of the blushing bride I’m now envisioning in my head.
